This weeks work took a couple of long days but we are really happy with where we have got to. Wednesday in particular saw a 10am-10pm session to refit the dashboard, centre console and roll cage (for the final time!)
The roll cage lined up perfectly with the welded in plates and generally fitted together well. One joint from the roof section into the rear section was tight up against the roof and we did need to use some ratchet straps to pull it into position. The dashboard was too tight on the right hand side so out came the angle grinder to make some more room to line up the right hand side of the cage, roof section and door bar. We did add the seats but it was getting dark and cold and we had run out of teabags so left them for another day.

On Friday we didn’t have much time so we fitted the seats properly and visited the scrap yard to buy a battery to run the winch. This was a tense day as it was the first time trying to get the car into the back of the van – if it didn’t work we would be well and truly stuffed. Fortunately it all worked perfectly and safely!

Saturday morning soon came round and it was a 7.30am start outside in the cold. First job of the day was installing the harnesses. The drivers seat is a new OMP TRS-E with a new Turn One six point harness – we will use both of these for racing, the passenger side is a used OMP TRS-E seat with a used Schroth six point harness which will be for passengers on track days only.

Next, on the drivers side we added a heel plate from SW Motorsports and using our loading ramps for better access added the new fuel tank guard that came in the kit bought from the C1 Racing Club.

Lastly the car needed a good clean (to make it go faster!) and we needed to load the van. It is amazing how much stuff we have to take and it was a tight fit, particularly to get out of the car! But we are ready for an early start tomorrow heading north to Donington Park for our first track day.
