A couple of big team announcements to start off this time.

We are delighted to welcome on board two mechanics, Matt Langmaid and Rob Dewey!

Both Matt and Rob work with Joshua in the Band of The Grenadier Guards and it’s great to have them on the team. 💪

Next up is Robin Culpin – we now have an official team photographer!

As you can imagine no one takes many photos of Robin but we’ll try and get one next day out, but all the shots you see on here and the next Instagram post are all taken by him. Welcome on board! Please do follow Robin on Instagram.

There were not any big upgrades to the car ready for this track day. A couple of tweaks with the track rods, checking oil and fluid levels then planning what we are going to buy next. The car was pretty filthy after January’s track day so a good jet wash and wax was in order. Being complete novices we were just heading out hoping the we have put it all back together correctly and that we weren’t going to have any failures!

Mark jumped in the car first for a couple of sighting laps then some hot laps in the morning sun. It was soon clear that after the previous upgrades of wishbones, drive shafts and track rod extensions our setup was pretty poor. Braking in a straight line was a challenge and we were shredding tyres, (this was a pretty decent one off the back, the front left was completely gone!)

Also in attendance for the day was the Army Sports Car Racing team who were hosting an insight and selection day for support crew.

Being in the Army Joshua, Matt and Rob all managed to book onto this and got a great insight into how the team operates and potential opportunities. The ASCR team also held some tuition session where we were able to use their alignment kit to sort out the Citroen to something like what will be race setup.

We also made use of the digital scales to see how close to the minimum weight for the C1 Cup we might be, 906kg wet with Joshua in too.

After this we also tried different tyre pressures and the car started to run really well.

Although no timing is allowed on track days it was obvious that Mark and Joshua were increasing their pace and would have taken lumps out of previous lap times.

It was brilliant to see another C1 there and meet the team. We planned in the afternoon to go out together but unfortunately their gearbox failed, hopefully next time!

So what’s next? We are waiting for the better weather before adding the master switch and extinguisher, then pooling funds and hopefully getting some sponsorship to help with the next upgrade purchases!

So it was back on the van and home after another great day on and off track, we feel that we are making huge progress and are very excited for the summer!

P.s. We also have a caption competition on our website at https://www.facebook.com/share/p/PLBxFcyiRn9unssQ/?mibextid=WC7FNe
